U.S. forces are instructed to only carry out operations in Kuwait, any operations in populated Iraqi territory are not sanctioned by the U.S. government.
well then

nvm about that last part then

Coalition forces decry the invasion of Iraq, as that is not the mission of the Coalition. All other members refuse to move into Iraq, including the American heavy tank divisions. The UN looks into the matter.

Bombardments are largely ineffective. Some units are caught in the al Abraq and Abdali bombardment, but the majority of strikes level empty ground or Kuwaiti civilian infrastructure. Good one.

Veteran Republican Guard forces meet the Coalition heavy armor head on in the south. Surrounded on three sides by Iraqi forces, Coalition armor suffers horrendous casualties to all but its M1A1s. Infantry fare better, but without armored support they will be overwhelmingly outgunned. A tactical withdraw is a smart choice.

Forces in the east have much better luck. They achieve a breakthrough but are suffering heavy resistance as they progress further west.

I will plan tomorrow, but I like how you didn't even consider ATG at all.

If you've followed the last six updates, you'll notice that air-to-ground combat is ineffective at best.

I'm pretty sure it was really effective in normal Desert Storm?

Unfortunately, this isn't normal Desert Storm. Russian AA, better tactics, much better morale, infantry AA - whatever you'd like to call it. Also the fact that until now there hasn't been one solid push, which is really what you've both been tiptoeing around. I'm not entirely sure why, either; it seems fairly reasonable that marshalling almost all of your forces in the region and turning them into a lance against a single point on the Iraqi line would be more than effective.

But who am I to tell you what to do.

After almost five long years of war, Iraq withdraws from Kuwait. Massive damage to their economy and general attrition has left the country a shadow of its former self. While weakened, Saddam's hold on power is still unbroken and his army, particularly the now emboldened Republican Guard, stands proud.

Long-standing ethnic tensions in Yugoslavia boil over. The states of Slovenia and Croatia formally declare their secession, to the displeasure of Serbia. The acts are declared unconstitutional; in Slovenia, a border dispute continues for 10 days before being diffused, while in Croatia, the Yugoslav and Croatian governments are at a stand-off. An insurrection in Croatia is suspected to be funded by Serbia, but they deny these claims.

An explosion in Delhi, India kills 12 and injures over 40. The origin of the blast appears to have been a shipping container from China. Indian officials are investigating the matter.
