The U.S. government establishes an official position on energy in South Africa, they have agreed to provide South Africa with next generation nuclear reactors and the equipment to set up renewable energy plants. Furthermore, the U.S. will not interrupt funding of developing petroleum alternatives for materials research. The U.S. plans to shift completely to relying on only North American production for energy by 2030.
The U.S. begins developing a 100-year national plan that will slowly shift the United States from a growth-based economy to a stable economy that only artificially grows with global currency inflation, this involves providing effective and widespread family planning as well as birth control. The United States government is certain that the trend of expecting constant economic growth through Earth's resources alone will be unsustainable. The plan involves the development of long-range spacecraft to perform resource extraction and eventual colonization. The century plan also involves continued weapons development and a balanced quantity-quality approach to vehicle design, while elite units will be equipped with high performance and more unconventional equipment.
Other aims of the plan:
- Decentralization of renewable power generation and energy storage
- Attracting foreign engineers and scientists to the United States
- Nationalization of Healthcare
- Promoting developments in automation/AI and robotics research through DARPA and corporate ventures
- Reduction of U.S. environmental impact
- Relocation of the United Nations HQ to a neutral territory not governed by any nation
- Promotion of alternative energy in other countries
- Preservation of sustainable ecological services (fishing)
- Development of lab food or commercialization of other sustainable food source (insects)
- Complete elimination of dependence on foreign energy resources
