-"Evolution is not supported by the fossil record."
I really want to hear an argument supporting this before presenting an argument against it, but that is not really an option right now unless I go out and search for it myself, and I won't because I'm lazy.
I will, however, say that the fossil record does show changes within species over a period of time; for example, hominid fossils show an increased emphasis on the hind legs as moving bits and the front legs as manipulating bits, along with the shrinking of the brow line and jaw present in modern humans. In addition to this, humans also show many similarities with other great apes; namely, the lack of tails, penchant towards eating fruit, similar dental structure, increased intelligence (compared to many other species of ground-dwelling animals), and paws with five digits that can be independently moved to manipulate objects. This at least hints at a shared heritage between man and great apes, which can be backed up using the fossil record to show where the chimps end and the hominids begin.
(TL;DR: fossil records dont mean much when taken out of context but in context they say stuff)

-"The intelligent design movement is based entirely on scientific evidence."
Again, I want to see an argument for this before I can properly respond.
However, I don't actually have an argument or evidence for or against this because I am completely unfamiliar with the topic (and, again, I'm too lazy to learn on my own); the closest thing I can think of is the Big Bang generating a universe with the right mathematical laws and constants for intelligent life to develop, then for said intelligent life to get in fights with other intelligent life about how they got here.
(TL;DR: idk)

-"The LGBT movement is not for marriage equality because they do not accept child enthusiasts marrying young teenage/pre-teenage kids. They have left those people out so far."
This argument relies on the discredited stereotype that all homoloveuals either are or support child enthusiasts; the arguments of LGBT marriage and child enthusiasm are entirely unrelated, outside of some certain serial killers that happened to be LGBT child enthusiasts.
(TL;DR: LGBT =/= child enthusiast)

-"The Crusades are not comparable to Islamic Terrorism because the Crusades are incompatible with Christian doctrine and teaching, while Islamic Terrorism is consistent with Islamic teaching and the example of the prophet Muhammad."
(This is just going off of the understanding of Islam history class gave me during the units about the Muslim World)
To my knowledge, The Crusades were mostly about angry Chrisitans being led by a pope with ulterior motives to reclaim the Holy Land. Yes, they are incompatible with modern (or even archaic) teachings of Christianity, largely due to how they relied on warfare to take back the Holy Land and spread their religion. I don't know of any proof saying Muhammad was in support of using terror and war to spread his religion. Additionally, many people who follow the Islamic faith believe terrorist groups are not properly following the doctrine set out in the Qur'an (my spelling is almost certainly off). Would it be reasonable to believe that minority extremist groups such as the kool kids klub or Lord's Resistance Army are following the example set by Jesus in the Bible?
(TL;DR: old christianity = crusades =/= modern christianity, im pretty sure muhammad doesnt want people shooting people in the name of islam, the terrorists are minorities and more or less shunned by other members of their faith)

-"The existence of evil is actually proof of God’s existence. Because evil exists, that means there is a transcendant standard upon which we can judge that something is good or evil. Otherwise, evil is relative and is just an opinion."
Evil is entirely relative to an individual's set or morals, and exists without the need for a supreme deity to say "This is good, keep doing it," or "This is bad, stop doing it or I'll call in the locusts." A company or organization that provides cheap foodstuffs to an otherwise struggling population can be seen as heroes by that population, yet also as villains by the people that group has needed to build their labor on, especially if said laborers are underpaid or outright enslaved. Additionally, while the plantation owners and slave masters of the English colonies in North America and the Caribbean are often considered villains by modern standards, at the time, they were seen as beneficial by much of the population benefiting from them; they provided cheap food, desired luxuries, and ever-essential products such as rum to the free people of Europe and their colonies, allowing for a financial boom to take place, involving a global economy.
(TL;DR: evil is relative to personal beliefs and worldview)

Apologies if anything I've said has been repeated in the past ~12 pages; I haven't read all of the arguments presented.
Double apologies for the wall of text, it's always a pain to read stuff like this. There's a TL;DR at the bottom of the arguments.

I would be interested in seeing your brother actually backing up his statements with verifiable evidence

believe what you want if it makes you a better person

You basically repeated a lot of stuff said before, but you backed it up with a lot of evidence, so I think your post is worth reading.

im just gonna put this out there i've lived in a christian home my entire life and like my family is great i wouldnt trade anything in the world for them and most of it is because you cant really push your children into things and my parents know that. all of my siblings are out of the house and still christians. i can count on them for anything and they pretty much feel the same for me

because i've been forced to sit through plenty of church services, countless "biblical" studies over how men should be slave drivers to women or about doomsday conspiracies (the EU is secretly satanic, either putin or some dragdi dude is the antichrist, pope francis is the false prophet), sat in on plenty of sunday school services full of old people believing that the government will execute christians for not marrying gays, gone to enough youth services full of teenagers trying to disprove dinosaurs and adults saying fingerprint identification is the mark of the beast, etc etc. also they think they're the most persecuted people group in the world and simply adore the slippery slope fallacy.

my dad (a very solid christian) doesn't believe in mental illnesses or psychiatrists/therapists, either. he thinks that all mental/emotional issues should be handled by the church family and god and no one else. and i also got death threats because one time i accidentally left "under god" out of the pledge at school.

so yea that's why i'm not a christian and generally think they're a little cuckoo. i know some are worse than others but yknow.

that sounds like a terrible church

I'm all for gays and that crap, though I'm against gay parentage. Atheists are typically arrogant mongoloids in my experience,
however I don't mind people not believing in a god. Basically I believe in a higher power, but I'm too lazy to worship it.

BREAKINGS NEWS: YOU HAVE TO BE ATHEIST TO BE GAY

BREAKINGS NEWS: YOU HAVE TO BE ATHEIST TO BE GAY
if you is true god believer then ya

That's not what Christianity is like at all, I think you just have a terrible church/community surrounding it.

that sounds like a terrible church
yeah they're pretty crazy. it's mostly old white people who go there, but the one who led the 6 or 8 week "study" on the "biblical man and woman" was pretty young and gave stellar ideas like these:

the man should be a slave driver to the women of the house
women should not be allowed in leadership positions and should give them to men
women should not be allowed to work and should stay at home making babies
women should follow their husband's orders
if the woman works, all of her money should be given to the husband
if the woman earns more than the man, then the man is failing in his duties as a "godly husband"
the man always has final say, and if he gives up his position as "head of the house" then he's failing as a "godly husband"
women should not be allowed to teach in church, unless they're teaching young children
women may not preach or be deacons
women that are raped should not be allowed to fear other men but should be forced into groups of men

there was a bunch more and it was all sickening and i had to tune most of it out bc it made me feel physically ill to hear it

women may not preach or be deacons
this is the most normal thing you said in that list. most christan denominations do not allow women in these positions

The pastor at a church i used to go to before I stopped going to churches ended up being a child enthusiast I think and it was caught on camera

(TL;DR: evil is relative to personal beliefs and worldview)
tbh it's never even occurred to me to try brown townyzing what "evil" is. Huh. Something for me to think about tonight I guess lol

I'm trying not to say "die in a fire while you're drenched in kerosene"
well thanks for not saying it I guess

I understand where the anger comes from but what you said right there is exactly why I try to be as objective as possible

I just think it's repulsive as a trait to believe homoloveuals are possessed by demons.
more repulsive than a Christian saying that born homoloveuality is a sin that's the kid's fault and that they're going to hell for it if they don't become hetero? Because both claims are false

I'm having trouble coming up with a better response because I don't know if you quite understand what possession and demons really are and how they work from a Christian standpoint. I hate to jump to an assumption but, based off of your violent comment and the fact that you probably think demons/possession are bullstuff anyway, I don't think anything I tell you will change anything, so I'll accept being viewed as repulsive if that's what you please

this is the most normal thing you said in that list. most christan denominations do not allow women in these positions
some churches are moving towards allowing women in those positions, and my church thinks they aren't "real" churches for doing that
