Author Topic: [POLL] Should the Blockland Forum "topic too old" length be more than 2 months?  (Read 999 times)

it doesn't really make any difference, to be honest. but either way this poll isn't going to accomplish anything. have you seen the poll thread that badspot himself made? yeah...

i think it's fine how it is

if someone hasn't posted in a thread for 2 months
there's usually a reason

yeah but there's scenarios where something gets an update for example but you can't bump the topic because it's been too long. :(

The only thing that bothers me is that I can't get exact quote timestamps, which I need if I want quote links to work properly.

Mm. I don't understand what the numbers after date= represent. If I did I could quote old posts easier.

It's only useful having long times to bump for the few topics that don't update frequently, but do get discussed when they eventually do, like the Prequel topic.
Alternatively Help topics when someone else had the same issue. Also Add-ons, when you want to ask a question or report a bug.
Otherwise it's unnecessary. We used to have quite a long time before topics became too old, and we would sometimes get stupid 4 month bumps for topics that didn't need it.

it's a unix timestamp. the number of seconds that have passed since the epoch, that is, 00:00:00 on january 1, 1970
there are many websites that will translate it for you in a snap. but you might have to do some timezone corrections

Cool. Thank you.

I lol'd.  :cookieMonster:

Leave it at two months so noobs don't bump a hella old topic.

At least get this to work properly, otherwise, expand the 2 month mark to something more reasonable.

There are ways to get around it, so it's okay.

something about this post is so you. I can't explain it and it won't do any good to ask me what I'm talking about because I don't know. but if I had just seen this sentence on its own somewhere, I'd have guessed it was you who said it

other than that, it's just a bad post. you intentionally didn't explain yourself. why not? idk. I'd say that you did it to get some extra attention from people asking you how to do it, but to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if you never had any intention of actually telling anyone what you're talking about in the first place

if you edit the last post in the thread, you can then post in it. or... it might be any post in the thread, not just the last one. I've never really tested that theory
but here's an example of it working with the last post, at least:

if it has to be the last post, then you won't always be able to do it, obviously. but for that thread I had port as a friend on steam so I just asked him to edit his post real quick
