because i've looked into it many times
after i played rust and dayz for years, i stopped even confronting other players and just immediately attacked them
i benefit from their resources and i don't run the risk of having to trust or exchange with them
Just because you, and other players of rust/dayz, happen to be massive stuffbags doesn't mean the human race, or an alien race, would be stuffbags to each other.
tbh it think that if aliens tried to make first contact we'd just kill them all
there are tons of countries with nukes. no vehicle is powerful enough to withstand something like that
What would possibly be the reason for either side to start a conflict with the other?
Or disease, everyone forgets this factor. Same thing happened to the Europeans and Native Americans. They became exposed to diseases on both ends that were unknown to both of their immune systems, but it affected the natives the worst in the end.
This would be the most likely thing to happen (if it even could) when two races meet.
If we both have DNA, then we most likely can be affected by each other's bacteria (it would be bizarre if they had no bacteria).
But chances are that those who take charge in such a meeting would restrict our contact in terms of the physical to begin with.
If aliens were to turn up in a big mothership, and introduce themselves, and be compliant with our wishes, then they would probably spend a good few months on their ship without ever meeting a human.
Because we would ask them to wait before we are certain we are both safe.
