Author Topic: Ideas to "revive" blockland (tip: living things cant be revived)  (Read 10381 times)

So with the massive influx of "blockland is dead" topics, I think a thread to compile ideas to get blockland's population up is fitting.

No I don't believe the game is dead or dying, but having an increase in players is always a good thing.

So, post ideas that you think would get more people to buy the game.

My idea:
Have the game go on a halloween sale, since sales always make playercount go up. However, maybe badspot/rotondo/whatever can add back the age old renderman/prepper (with maybe a few tweaks, perhaps having renderman spawn as a bot instead of a prepper face emitter), since that was extremely popular. The two things together would probably cause a massive increase in popularity, (but I'm not sure how long it would last)

no i dont think this is a good idea
a Halloween sale sure but no scripting or anything

why

theres no reason to do anymore scripting than whats in the base game
if the community wants to host a renderman server they can, no administration needs to get involved

I think it's more fun when it's default

- feels more creepy (when it was added a long time ago, no one knew anything about it, and when it just started showing up in literally everyone's server, nobody knew what was going on so it became a huge myth hunt sort of thing. If it was a mod then people would instantly know what was going on by reading the description of the mods addon topic)

- catch players off guard (before I knew about prepper/renderman, I saw one in my server while I was building and it was sp00ky)

Basically it would be like if the myths in gta San Andreas weren't actually ingame but only random mods, it's just more exciting when the game developer makes it, and everyone gets it.

there would need to be a couple of decent popular mostly-default (so new players won't spend an hour downloading mods) servers as to leave a good impression

Well low downloads work well too. Not brick wise but for commands and useful things.

pardon?

entirely new game on a good engine
That's not actually an answer to his question.

Creating a brand new game is not reviving blockland, it's abandoning it and creating something new.

I think if the community had some really dedicated video producers, who were making great videos for Blockland, which we could advertise via social media and sharing on sites, that would help.

Sales would work, alongside big permanent servers.
Or some servers that were endorsed by Badspot/Blockland itself. Basically saying, "hey, go here!".
