FF4 since it introduced the ATB system
LoZ for it's save feature
Metroid for starting the Metroidvania genre
Super Mario 64 for fixing most of the issues 3d platformers had

Not really a game but the Dualshock introduced pressure sensitive buttons

oh, and borderlands 1

to me it kind of feels that set up a good amount of games after it
I can agree, Borderlands is big on advertising that it has millions of guns and it does which is unique feature imo. Also I've really enjoyed the multiplayer beyond doubt, the four player coop is just such a good idea and personally is what I enjoy in multiplayer games (Also what I had expected from Elder Scrolls Online but that dissapointed me quite a bit...).

why isn't grand theft auto on the list under open world?

the original super mario bros and smb3 are both pretty important as well

RPG: Undertale
undertale is good but it's wayyy to early to tell if it's industry changing...

also kind of a side note, not really about undertale since i feel it might have an impact (im not a psychic though):
just because you and a lot of people liked a game doesn't make it industry changing

you could say the original halo, or call of duty 4, or quake or doom

Whether you liked it or not, there's no denying Cave Story had a humongous impact on indie games.

why is super mario 64 not on the list yet

cus he doesn't intend on adding any games to his list, he just wanted us to know he's given these games his seal of approval.

Yeah.

Rust and Ark haven't really changed the industry, they kinda just put their foot in the door and ended up being let inside after people got tired of saying "no"

Smackdown! Here comes the pain changed wrestling games FOREVER
PAYDAY 2 introduced almir loving up
