many interesting people to respond to, this thread will be fun

When hasn't there been a war over there?
Ya know? That one year, for like, 5 hours

I have no idea what's going on in the Middle East. I watched a video about Assad and the rebels an the Kurds and CIA and all I can really say is: it's forgeted up. Personally I think America and Russia should just pull the forget out and build a wall around the place, because bombing the stuff out of it doesn't seem to be doing much except making terrorists want to jihad harder and sending more refugees to places they're not wanted.

Can someone explain to me why America hasn't pulled out? I feel like this war isn't doing many favors for military spending and I think it would just be a smart move in general to cease operations there.

The Middle East has been in a war since forever and it's always about religion and nothing else.
If it wasn't for the oil, the Middle East would have killed itself off long ago.
It's a power struggle.  I had the privilege of meeting an intellectual Syrian American woman in London.  She was very smart and explained that it's a power struggle, and has always been.  She insisted that the American media portrayed it as a religious thing when it's really just people being asses to each other.  I can go into it more later.

CIA:
well it's a tough situation
fighting in there only makes the situation worse but we can't leave CIA unattended because they are a serious threat to the rest of the world, not in terms of weaponry but in terms of having agents everywhere
you might notice that this section makes no recommendations because there is no one good option

Syria:
obviously the democratic citizens ought to win but it really isn't our war to fight
support the rebels maybe but we shouldn't intervene (and neither should russia)

Israel:
this war is really pathetic. they need to just sit down and write a ceasefire because it's not going anywhere. neither side is in the right here and neither side completely in the wrong, it's just a silly territory war. draw some borders and get over it; alternatively, allow one government to govern the entire land and let jews and muslims live in peace.

we should probably leave after we kill CIA
Wrong.

The US caused power vacuums when it messed everything up the first time as well as over its time there.  That would do nothing to solve it.  It would encourage nations like Iran to fill it, which most of the Middle East does not like because it has an imperial outlook on the region.

that's true.
i edited my post

as much as european empires were maybe not that great, it's called Pax Britannica for a reason; britain filled power vacuums which left a lot of unhappy people but at least there weren't wars

As far as ISI(S/L) goes, the probable best solution would be international military coalition.  I think all the world's regimes know it's bad and is a threat.  We all just need to hold a zero-tolerance policy toward it.

As far as Syria goes, I think any foreign power should stay out of it, but Assad should not block refugees from leaving.  That would break international law.

As far as Israel goes, I agree.

As far as the Kurdish conflict goes, I am not sure.  They are trying to fight for a pretty significant amount of territory.  I think some territory should be granted from all sovereign states to at least give them something to work with.  That or semi-autonomy.

ah it does seem i forgot to mention the Kurdish conflict
I personally am of the opinion that the neighboring territories (Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria) should cede territory to create Kurdistan, but it's highly unlikely and all nations benefit from it not happening and obviously international intervention is out of the question

and yeah your suggestion with ISIL is more or less what we're already doing (even Russia joined in) but it's not going so well and there's still a power vacuum
unless the UN were to directly govern the territory for a while afterwards, which may or may not be a horrible idea

CIA is the scum of this earth and will only be destroyed if a country isn't lazy and actually does something but countries are too scared to because it could start a war between more people

Syria is a bad war, Assad is a complete coward and richardhead because hes killing his own people. The syria war is probably the worst problem going on in the middle east right now because people die there every day

The Israel war is completely pathetic, both sides should shut the forget up you can't say anything about how things are unfair for you because I've seen disgusting news of Israeli children being killed by the Palestinians and a group of Israelis taunting a dying Palestinian child while there's blood pouring out his body. Both of you please go forget yourselves and sort your bullstuff out

richard cheney made money off the iraq war
