Author Topic: so i need to get my wisdom teeth removed  (Read 2449 times)

yeah, i'm kind of scared. i don't want to be awake because i'm not sure if i can still feel pain or not with that gas they give you.

good luck, i heard its painful

it's not painful as long as your family can afford a good doctor

at 4-5 i had to get my molars literally ripped out without anesthetic
/all of them/
thankfully within the last year the new ones are grown in
i can still remember the pain, its awful btw, anesthetic or not

well we can see they have grown back strong

if they can't put me to sleep then, i'm just gonna tell them i can't do it. i have a pretty high pain tolerance, but teeth really forget with me on that.

they don't just give you some nitrous oxide and cut your mouth open. that would be dumb.
most often it's an injection of some sort of local anesthesia

they'll inject anesthesia in your gums (which will hurt like a bitch for a bit) and then you shouldn't feel anything besides pressure.

akio explained it better than me but yeah^
also they have to keep you awake to make sure that nothing's going wrong iirc

My wisdom teeth removal was fairly recent. One thing that no one seems to mention is that you'll end up with holes in your gums where the teeth were removed and you'll have to rinse the food out of them with a special syringe during the few weeks that they take to close up.

Local injections totally stop the pain, that's what they did to me. The pain is afterwards after it wears off.

you've never had fillings or anything?
every time I've had anything more than a cleaning done, they used nitrous oxide and a local anesthetic, which always really did the job for me
specifically what they did was use the gas, then rubbed some liquid on my gums (I'm not sure what. for some reason I remember it being pink, but I'm pretty sure that was just my little kid imagination) where they were going to inject the serious stuff, so that the shot didn't hurt so much
since you're older I'm not sure if they'd use the gum stuff, because it was just for the shot, and people who aren't kids can probably handle that on their own

every time i go to the dentist, i always have about 4 or 5 cavities i have that need to be filled, and they put a needle about an inch and a half long into my gums. i don't actually feel the pain of it, but i feel that damn excavator or what ever you call it (that one that has a high pitch wine). the excavator doesn't hurt, it just feels kind of ticklish.

im pretty sure in reality the needle only goes like 5 millimeters into your gum

Jesus do you not brush your teeth or something?
