Author Topic: PC auto starts  (Read 515 times)

So I was sleeping in my bed when I hear my pc start up. I had it in hibernate  so I could get back to my work easily. It starts up and I don't see anything pop up like an update anything. Could it be a ghost? A hacker? A stuffty design flaw in windows 10? Why did my pc turn on at 5:30 in the morning BLF

This happened to me a few times as well. I also have windows 10. No idea why though.

Windows 10 will, if an update has downloaded, enter a low-power-state when you press "Shut Down" and wait until when it thinks you won't be using your computer (you can manually set the time in the settings menu somewhere), at which point it will boot, install the updates and then completely shut down.

You can hold down shift while pressing "Shut Down" to force an update on Shut Down so that your computer will actually turn off.

something probably just woke your computer up like a notification

Computers come out of hibernation randomly, nothing to worry about.

your pc will come out of hibernation if your mouse moves even the slightest, probably a vibration or something.

This too, I have a friend who puts his pc into hibernate sometimes, he'll usually come back on to tell me that the computer woke up just because of the house movement from walking

this could also be a bad power supply but its prob what everyone else is saying

it was me coming into your house to turn your computer on and then running away

On more than one occasion I've jolted my PC from sleep with static discharge against the case lol.
