Author Topic: Depth Survival RPG  (Read 1555 times)

In a harsh ocean world, your goal is to survive.

Depth is going to be like nothing that has been seen before on Blockland. I don't plan on making this the standard hack-slash-kill RPG, nor a gigantic grind to become the most powerful on the server. My past RPGs have fallen into either, or both, of these categories. Depth will be different.



In Depth, I plan on having a wide variety of tasks, goals, and overall things to do, like:
>Fully explorable, unique, hand made map. I want something new and different.
>Storyline for Depth.
>Quests / Tasks that will follow the story.
>Crafting / Collection system.
>Upgrades to yourself, vehicles, and base.
>Beautiful Biomes and locations.
>Creatures, both AI and brick-built, to interact with.

While I think I'm fine for the building and eventing aspect, I could use a scripter or two, pm if interested, that would be greatly appreciated. Any 'ocean-y' related stuff and suggestions would also be appreciated, thank you.

i dont know how practical underwater movement would be as the primary system, i mean, you have to constantly hold and release SHIFT to hold your ground, and the screen is strongly tinted blue. if you go afk or press the menu you will end up on the surface.

if you have the autojet mod (the client sided one that uses jets to keep you at a certain height), it works underwater.

Yeah, that was one of my original concerns. Hope that the vehicles, upgrades, and other systems of travel will make up for it. The water will mainly look like the first pic though, most of the other pics just happen to be in deep / dark areas that are meant to look deep / dark. Finally, oxygen system, so going afk too long and you'll end up dying.

Finally, oxygen system, so going afk too long and you'll end up dying.

I believe that there is an anti-gravity map out there somewhere.  That could work cuz then you could float and sink and such but not be actually in water.

Cant wait for playing on this :D

I got this swimming playertype that lets you jump out of the water like a dolphin with high speeds.
Very fun to use.
It also has the same density as water, so you can float under water without going up or down or needing to press a button.

Used it as the playertype for my water pokemon in my RPG.

I can give it if you like.

Yeah, I have set the speeds pretty high.
But you can lower them to something reasonable.
Just open the Player_Swimming.cs in notepad or something and lower the numbers.

If you want the regular speed, just delete the lines but keep the "density = 1;" to keep the floating mechanic.


But there was a small error in the script.
I got some variables double.

I suppose so, too late now you'd never know what the generation would come out like though.



OT:
Didn't get nowhere near as much work done as I would've liked. Changed map due to a couple mistakes, should look better now. Decided to remove Forested Island (replaced with Mountain Biome) for time being. Also decided to scrap plateaus, does not look good. Need ideas in place of it. Something like this?

Could use some scripting help for an Oxygen system. Current one works fine, doesn't have option to increase a single player's max oxygen though. Current oxygen:
