Author Topic: Col. Burton's City RPG [DOWN FOREVER]  (Read 17492 times)

I accidentally banned myself for two weeks, if an admin could un-do that for me at some point that would be much appreciated lmao
i got you

The server is a loving disaster right now, I am so tired of CRPGs because of how badly and lazy they are planned and the endless street wars.  Nothing is ever different.

kinda rude tbh

Maybe some effort should be put into the server instead.

How about we keep to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, yes? What are some things you want to see improved? I'm sure Col would be happy to improve. And be specific now, no "everything is bad," "it's all the same," "make it better," etc.

I apologize. First off, I think Col should not let his super admins use the server announcement system that prints in huge font and has a global sound notification to spew racial slurs and insults. He shouldn't let his admins cheat so they get reincarnated within 10 minutes of reset and then place bounties. I would appreciate more work put into the map such as walls that look at least a little less like it was thrown together in 5 minutes. There needs to be more seperation between admin grants/powers and gameplay. For example placing multi-thousand grant money bounties isn't okay (looking at you col). I was trying to offer this advice in-game but was met with overwhelming scorn from col and other admins.

Tl;dr the server isn't a playground for admins who want to exploit players with the excuse of deal with it or leave

I believe this as well, I have told him to stop doing this or he will get demoted back to admin. He is my only SA and he is damn good at what he does.

My admins reincarnate themselves because I refuse to let them play the game like all other players, because they are too busy actually administrating. I understand your point from your point of view, but they are restricted from certain things.

I designed the map the way I wanted it to be so that it would fit with the street grid the best it could, I would repair the map walls to look more visually appealing but sadly that would take me way too much time.

It was all fun and games, most if not all players appreciated it except for you (seeing that you have a problem with it). It was a large amount of money and all of the players wanted to get to it. Skill4Life is reincarnated and can put a ridiculously large bounty on anyone that he wanted to, if he does that, would you get upset at that?

Nobody in the server wanted to hear your opinions, so Areforever muted you as a joke, and then unmuted you. You asked to be put back to being permanently muted, and then you were some how able to broadcast whisper to everyone in the server, so we banned you.

Tl;dr the server isn't a playground for admins who want to exploit players with the excuse of deal with it or leave
I apologize that you see my server this way, If you would like to appeal your ban I would happily let you PM me your appeal.

I actually have apologized for it in this thread and explained it was nothing more than a gimmick, as a joke. I meant no harm by it, and aside from a slight misfire and accidentally bombarding one player with a bunch of PMs once, no harm was caused. I have offered my help in polishing up the gamemode code before because I sincerely do want the server to improve.

I appreciate you asking areforever to clean up his act, though.

I will un-ban you, just try not to be so hostile about things, ill tell my admins to leave you alone too.

I mean, call it cliche, but could you make a better one? Not everybody is a great coder. It's even harder to try and reverse engineer a broken mod to fix it. If you've got a problem with CityRPG, maybe you should go through the lengthy effort of getting your own copy and then go through the lengthy effort of digging through the code to make changes. Every little bit of innovation in the right direction helps. Getting mad and bitching and complaining does not help.

You know from what I saw he must have been doing something right. For the last week-ish the server has been at the top of the list, full of people just having tons of fun, messing around, having a good time.

I actually have made CRPGs before. I actually have a great one on standby that I never hosted, but I stalled the release indefinetely because of all the drama that follows CRPG-s and that I had the realization that it was quite uninspiring.

So basically what I'm getting from this is you decided to not release your version of CityRPG because of people who complain about CityRPG, then you proceed to complain about somebody else's CityRPG because it is not your CityRPG? Obviously the best course of action here is to release your idea of what "more effort" means to the public so we can learn from it and the CityRPG community as a whole can progress. That would be the constructive thing to do.

This isn't just directed at you, either. CRPG as a whole needs a fixing, it does, but it's not gonna change overnight with one guy doing all the heavy lifting while everyone else gets mad at him. Everybody who can contribute, and actually cares enough to contribute, should contribute.

Why don't you release your version then? It's not doing much good just sitting there lol
