god has left the world unfinished
ot: is this one of those things like the infinite chocolate bar trick

If we each put $20 in a box, And I sell you the box for $30, we both make a $10 profit. Infinite money?
you had $20 to begin with. i had $50 in order to chip in $20 and still have $30 to buy it with.
you put in 20 and i put in 20. leaving you with 40 after possessing the box and i with 30
now you sell the box back to me and i give you my 30 and take the 40. leaving you with 40

the final outcome leaves me with $40 and with you $30. you just cheated me out of $10

the answer is simple. tax on the shirt was a dollar.

not in my frickin county. 10% sales tax can suck my richard

It's actually quite simple math.
Borrowed 100 (-100)
Bought shirt 97 (100-97)
3 dollars left (3)
Return 1 to each parent
(-50 + 1 = -49)
(-50 + 1 = -49)
-49 + -49 = -98
I still owe 98 dollars and I have one dollar left
if I add in my dollar I have left (-98 + 1), I would get -97, and that's the cost of the shirt.

I haven't paid less than $100 for a shirt in a year or more.

Oh yeah, for the math, it's easier to look at it like accounts:

Account A: -$50
Account B: -$50
Account C:  $3

Pay $1 into each A and B:

Account A: -$49
Account B: -$49
Account C:  $1

You've got a total debt of $98, and a total net worth of $1. So, if you paid $1 of your debt, you'd have a debt of $97: the value of the shirt.
