Author Topic: IRS Scam Call  (Read 829 times)

So im staying over at my grandmothers house for the weekend to spend some time with her before finals. She just went away to go do an activity. I hear the phone ringing"Washington DC". Im confused because we don't have any business from DC as in family, relatives, etc. So I let it go to voicemail and sure enough it was one of those IRS scammers. I'm extremely furious because if I wasn't here god knows what would've happen. I don't think my grandmother would've given out anything, but it could've scared the hell out of here.

There are no words to describe how furious I am right now.
I put what the voicemail was down below. It isnt much since it gets cut off.

I think you're blowing it a little out of proportion

this
me and xeidious keep getting a call from loving shauna, our google website specialist

every time the number changes so its not like you can block it and it calls once a day or once every two days

i understand getting upset. if someone's insidious enough, they can really take advantage of someone who doesn't know how to respond to a scam or notice that they're being scammed.

Chances are they are nowhere near the first scam phonecall your Gran has recieved.

My brother gets calls from DAVID FROM MICROSOFT WINDOWS all the time asking for his login info so they can fix his account.

i get calls from "The local pharmacy" asking to confirm my prescription of snake pills

Yea, I get calls about "saving jesus," and to "donate 500 dollars today to get a free cross," which I don't get since Jesus is already impaled by two sticks.

i guess the best that can be done in that situation with a constantly changing number is to just change your number?

My dad let one of those forgeters into my pc once, I knew I should of locked my comp.

Basically I went to target to get some batteries quick and when I came back my dad was on my computer and then he passed the phone to me and it was some guy named clark who wanted to show me I had a virus in my computer, they got my dad far enough to the point where he already installed teamviewer and the guy was showing me stuff in services that was "not supposed to be turned off"when me being an IT guy already knew most of that stuff was offline because it had no use being on 24/7, he then went to some hady website with a ancient Microsoft Parner logo from like 2004 and download a stuffty pccleanerpro stuff and tried to seell me this stuff.

I tried to get enough info from him to find out who this forgeter works for and its a stuffty telemarketing company that has a 100% negative rep in the better business bureau, the company was known for malicious marketting and fraud and was in the process of a 1st class action lawsuit for illegal marketing practices.

To be clear he downloaded a virus so that if I did not pay him it would forget with the registry and add nagware to make me buy this stuff.

I did participate in that lawsuit and got 20$ in return even though I bought nothing, I have also gotten 60$ from a lawsuit against AVG Technologies USA for their TuneUp Utilites that does squat, I have no idea why a bought that stuff, all it did was automated Task Manager actions.

People like them are scumbags, they deserve any loving lawsuit they get.
