im sorta interested in this game - i like team based games like payday 2 (when it goes well, that is) and this sounds like fun. however, the top steam reviews complain about the pings and i'd like to know whether or not that's been fixed by now.
also, i'd like to build some of these maps in BL. the prop mod seems promising for this - if any of you would be willing to help me design the map i would appreciate it a lot.
Ping is only a problem if you're in other regional servers that are not your own. Such as, if you have a East US server but you're playing on a US West server. That will only occur however if someone else in your party is based in US West and they start the matchmaking. The ping isn't abnormally large to affect gameplay. I'm in the US East and have a normal 60-70 ping, when I play on US West, I get about 90-100 ping. Also, be aware of your NAT type. It can have a massive impact on matchmaking. Moderate and Open NAT types are the best, Strict will damn near keep you from playing with a team.
Matchmaking isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be either. Casual matchmaking is random. Chance's are you'll play against really good guys, or terrible players. Ranked, it'll match your team against similarly ranked players, based on a majority. Me and a few buddies are all high-ranked, so we normally play against platinums, golds, and diamonds.
