Author Topic: Games were armor is an actual object?  (Read 1796 times)

I've been curious if any developer ever implemented a separate hit box for equippable armor that'd actually block bullets/blows in a game. I know some GoldSrc games had vests that protected the body from direct fire but not the limbs.

I've been looking for the exact same thing.

Chivalry has helmet hitboxes but it only works against arrows. But there is a lot of games that only have helmet hitboxes.

I have yet to see any chest hitboxes.

I don't know but that would be pretty frickin neat

If i remember correctly chivalry does something like this with limbs.

i think rust is doing something like this

MGS 5 does this. Stuff like trank darts won't penetrate body armor or helmets. You have to aim for the small face or their limbs.

exanima

You can put a chair over your body and it'll block hits from enemies. Game of the year.

Some units in Cortex Command have armor that can be broken/shot off.

there used to be this one game in roblox where you were supposed to build your own suits of armor against weapons that would detach the blocks from the surround ones. people got pretty creative about creating alternating tiles in layers so that the swords/spears couldn't break off entire sections
