Interesting, but I feel like it could start getting extremely complex extremely quickly if you start specifying between weapon types and their various damages especially when this extends to ships.

We'll simplify it for this;

Defense Battery, rolls 4 shots, low health, easier to build, costs less to maintain,

Defense Field, rolls 16+ shots, higher health, better accuracy, longer to build, costs more to maintain

Fighter/SSTO Base, attacks dropships and ships in orbit.

Garrison, houses troops, resists planetary attacks, mostly RP based

Image editor for what? I'd be handling RP-relevant graphics, except for flags.



Edit: Simplified Further, planetary defenses upgrade like infrastructure.

Defenses I: Rolls 10 shots, costs x economic points to maintain. Costs x economic points to upgrade to defense II

Defenses II: Rolls 15 shots, costs y economic points to maintain. costs x economic points to upgrade to defense III

Defenses III: Rolls 20 shots, costs z economic points to maintain

Fighter Base I: Rolls 5 shots against ships, x against dropships, y economic points to maintain, z to upgrade

Garrison I: Houses a combat unit

I've worked out a system of ship classes and started working on a planetary defenses chart.

There are five know classes of ships: Destroyer, Cruiser, Battleship, Assault Carrier, Transport.

There are also two classes of ship that may be added, gunships, which are smaller and cheaper than destroyers with or without jump capabilities, and command ships, cruiser sized defensive ships which augment a fleet's offensive and defensive power, at the cost of being expensive.


Gunships are reasonable, either calling them that or corvettes/frigates.

suggestion: defenses should be cheaper to maintain than fleets of equivalent firepower


Current defense versus ships battles are conventional weapons only. Going nuclear is always an option, but that damages the planet's surface and habitability, and does not necessarily make taking the planet on the ground any easier.

Also nuking a planet that is habitable without special provisions will probably get you lynched by the rest of the nations. Nuking a habitable planet is a cardinal sin.
