Interesting, but I feel like it could start getting extremely complex extremely quickly if you start specifying between weapon types and their various damages especially when this extends to ships.
We'll simplify it for this;
Defense Battery, rolls 4 shots, low health, easier to build, costs less to maintain,
Defense Field, rolls 16+ shots, higher health, better accuracy, longer to build, costs more to maintain
Fighter/SSTO Base, attacks dropships and ships in orbit.
Garrison, houses troops, resists planetary attacks, mostly RP based This whole thing sounds really cool but I feel like I don't have enough free time or a good enough image editor to participate
Image editor for what? I'd be handling RP-relevant graphics, except for flags.
Edit: Simplified Further, planetary defenses upgrade like infrastructure.
Defenses I: Rolls 10 shots, costs x economic points to maintain. Costs x economic points to upgrade to defense II
Defenses II: Rolls 15 shots, costs y economic points to maintain. costs x economic points to upgrade to defense III
Defenses III: Rolls 20 shots, costs z economic points to maintain
Fighter Base I: Rolls 5 shots against ships, x against dropships, y economic points to maintain, z to upgrade
Garrison I: Houses a combat unit
