I had the same setup except I wired it with a 50 ft cable, the long way around the room. Clockwise. It didn't go across the doorway at all and was hidden by all my other stuff like the bed and dresser, etc.

Hammer a couple of nails into the wall halfway, and hang the wire up on the nails. This way, you don't damage the wire and it can easily be removed later.
