They had a huge loving cache error, which, by the way, is properly fixed now.
They're just claiming they did it :l

EDIT: In case it wasn't clear (for anyone who posts later) -- Steam's downtime is fixed. You can login, and shop and account details are now all yours and not some random guys.

It is safe to login and use other Steam features now.
