grab LARGE BOWL of hot water
dump on car :)

This is what got me into this mess in the first place.  I tried using a large plastic cup full of hot (not boiling, just hot tap water) to thaw my window (which has worked up until now) but it's so loving cold out all it managed to do this time is make it even worse, and on top of that freeze over the door latch.

If I use actually boiling hot water it will probably just shatter the window.

saxton hale it and punch the ice off with your bare/bear hands (gloves are ok too)

if it's frozen open it shouldn't be that hard to close anyway. frozen closed is a problem because you don't usually have anywhere to grab that you can safely put a lot of pressure on, but if it's open, you have the whole door that you can push

There's no need for the driver's window to be able to lower. The wrench on my car has been borked since the second day I got it (although expected from a 1980 vehicle). It's a small inconvenience in tolls but I just pull the brake, open the door, get off, pay, get on, remove the brake, and continue. Same at any kind of place toll-ish like garages.

in a lot of US states its illegal for the driver side window to be unop because of police stops
