Author Topic: Is there a mod for the ridiculous light limitations?  (Read 12117 times)

So what you are saying is that your addon has almost no performance issues like you predicted it would have?
no
he's saying that hypothetically many lights at once could work just fine, but it doesn't
tork 3d
buuut unless this is just a typing error, that would certainly be why blockland does not have such a feature. Torque 3D and Torque Game Engine are two vastly different game engines. Blockland is built on TGE

No - that's about deferred lighting, which we won't have before blockland is updated to tork 3d.

We could totally have that running at glorious 60 fps in a newer engine.

Badspot raise lights pls

Badspot said he has no plans to put Blockland on a newer engine, i think because it would be too problematic with how Blockland currently works and it could cause a lot of add-ons to break

ok so
do it then? badspot isn't going to do it and you are lying to yourself if you think there is even a slim chance of that
otherwise what's the point in just shouting into the wind about it? make a spiritual successor to blockland

it could cause a lot of add-ons to break
im fine with that sacrifice

ok so
do it then?

Sure, let's start by getting the full source of this blockland. See where this is going? Badspot/kompressor are the only ones who can do it in reasonable time.

you don't need the source to remake it. actually that would be kinda pointless. the point of making such a spiritual successor would be to improve on the idea, not copy what has already been made

so you want him to make an entire game

that being said

you can make a new car, but you shouldn't reinvent the wheel

I don't want him to do anything. he's suggesting badspot do something that badspot won't do, and I'm suggesting an alternative

yeah, that is better sometimes. but in this case, you would have no choice
I imagine just about everything would need a lot of reworking regardless, if you were gonna start with a new engine

well now I'm just sad
What is the link to that map? I know I've seen it posted to BLF with a download, just cant remember the name

OT: This is a nice addon and I'll use it one day

The mod isn't working for me
