Author Topic: STRAIGHT PRIDE FLAG MAKING THREAD (BOYSTOWNS ASHAMED!?)  (Read 10159 times)

it's about empowerment.

gay people weren't exactly treated super great in the old days, so they banded together in cities like san francisco for support. the flag isn't about gayness, it's about gay pride. the reason why art and spirit and etc. are all on the flag is because they want to show that homoloveuality is positive and normal.

straight people could easily have a straight pride flag but there was never anyone getting ostracized for being straight, so there never really was need for one
thats understandable and perfectly fine, but in a world where homoloveuality is becoming more and more accepted, is "empowerment" really necessary?  I mean i think the case where a Christian bakery that denied to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple ended up getting fined 135,000 dollars and were ordered to "cease and desist" from elaborating on their wishes to not support LGBT rights is pretty hard evidence that homoloveuals aren't really on the back foot anymore.

considering the fact that people still get killed for it, yes

I may dislike those who are overly-flamboyant, but it is wrong to believe gay marriage being legalized means that everyone suddenly accepts gays. Keep in mind that it is only really legalized in the US, Canada (not sure about the UK and AUS) and a couple of European nations. In most of the world, being homoloveual is frowned upon mostly - even in many parts of America, despite gay marriage being legalize nationwide here.

wait wot

the plot thickens

Not in the westernized world.  A lot of Christians are killed in the middle east too.  Discrimination in the middle east is not an exclusively homoloveual issue.

that sucks and all but whats an lgbt flag in the USA gonna do to affect saudi's discrimination

my point exactly

Many still face hate crimes for their loveuality in the Western world. Unfortunately some people find that cringe-worthy (why, I don't know). It's the same thing when someone talks about Christians being persecuted (people cringe, and I still don't know why as millions of Christians have been forced out of their homes in Syria and Iraq over the last ten years for being Christian - and if they refuse to leave, they're killed or they must convert to Islam).

the straight flag is all black because they have no color
