Can't they just stay anonymous?

Can't they just stay anonymous?
ive always wondered this too. ive seen cases of people who've been able to accept their winnings anonymously and some who haven't. i wonder what the official stance on anonymity is. i feel like they'd have to let you with these kind of winnings cause borderline billion dollars is a dangerous amount of money lol

If I won I wouldn't say a word to anyone outside my house. I'd instantly invest in home security and more guns. I'd also replace this stuffhole of a house with one that can actually hold heat, nothing flashy just a simple 5-6 bedroom home if possible. Big enough to fit my family plus a guest or two

Can't they just stay anonymous?
here's the thing: with a decent sized jackpot you're going to encounter people who work day and night to figure out who the anonymous guy is.

and believe me they WILL figure it out.

Only some states allow you to remain anonymous, and the number of states is very small. I read somewhere that you can start a trust or LLC to cover for you though.

They won't know if you hire a hitman, after all you have the money.
In all seriousness you could just quit the job after the money gets to you

you could buy a b2 stealth bomber with that money

here's a guide for anybody who happens to win the lottery, i knew i had this in my bookmarks somewhere:

Congratulations! You just won millions of dollars in the lottery! That's great.

Now you're forgeted.

No really.

You are.

You're forgeted.

I've seen this question (what to do if you win the lottery), a few times on ARFCOM. Amusingly, it recurs quite often. I posted a similar article to this one "back when" but I've updated it with some actual stories and slapped it in GD because, well, why not?

Keep in mind: IAALBNY (I Am A Lawyer, But Not Yours). Consult professional advisers before spending your hard earned lottery cash.

Don't be stupid and you won't have a bunch of problems.

Just finished reading it, his post really only seems to apply to a person who came out of a dysfunctional family constructed completely of starfishs. Given how many of those exist in the states, it's a good guide if you have a reason to have your paranoia amped up by 100%. So it's pretty easy. The simple version is don't associate yourself or your money with known degenerates and people with horrible character issues.

think about it this way: whittaker made 15 mil from investing before the lottery winnings and his family was not the culprit in any part of the story.
outside sources found out he won the lottery (this scenario definitely appears that he wasn't having an attorney cover for him or chose to be anonymous) and you know what happened from there.

money corrupts, whether you like it or not perfectly innocent people become your worst enemies and you will never see it coming unless you played a major form of self defense and did what the guide said.

or how whittaker got sued 4 times and LOST all 4 times because women were leaving their partner to go and try to get whittakers affection.
so it's not actually plausible because you simply don't know who the forget these degenerates and people with horrible character issues are until it's too late, if you never encountered one person like that you're either the luckiest person on the planet or you preemptively defended yourself.

this entire planet is like a dark alleyway in detroit, treat it as such.

I went through it.

Pretty much. Most people I know are cuntbags who would just try to siphon money off me or my family if we were to win. Sadly if I were to win everyone would already know me so if they didn't let me keep anonymous I'd be pretty forgeted unless I stayed home or had people keeping people away.
