Anyone here have APUSH? (AP usa history)

I was really good at regular World History, and I decided to take APUSH this year. The problem is, it's much harder than my teacher said it would be, and i'm always struggling on tests and quizes because I can remember the main idea of chapters well, but the tests and quizes always ask weird questions that I never thought of, and I end up failing them. This led me to taking excessive notes on like, literally everything in the textbook, but it ended up being way too much info for me to remember for the test and I still did bad. The only thing keeping my B in the class is the essays and discussions which I'm pretty good at, but I don't know it that will be enough to maintain a B for the class this semester. So my question is, for you APUSH students that are good at it, what's your technique?

I can totally feel you bro. My APUSH teacher is a nice guy but he does a horrible job at actually teaching the material. He teaches all the basic stuff that really never helps for the tests, and doesn't give any prep materials either. Since he tests us on the most random ass information, there's really nothing I can do about this class other than trying to memorize everything that could possibly come out. I mostly get B+ for multiple choice and A- for essays/short answers, so my mom always gets mad. Our school uses a grading system that's out of 100 rather than a 4.0 GPA system, and the "class average" grade is a 95 and above.

I guess that's what you get for going to a overpriced stuffty ass college prep school.

welp i took the quiz today, i read the book and that made it a little bit easier but i dont know my score yet

I ended up with a 4.

My advice is to study smarter not harder. Our class was assigned a 900 page text book on US history and I read the whole thing and retained probably 40% of it.

Take notes as you read, it'll help you remember.
