Minecraft Alpha is home to my favorite versions of Minecraft. No RPG elements, no hunger, just survival. It actually was harder without health regeneration.

Popular Alpha Versions:
  • Alpha v1.0.17_04
  • Alpha v1.1.2_01 - My favorite.
  • Alpha v1.2.6

I might start hosting an Alpha server if any of you are interested.

This video here got me into Minecraft during this state: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ea_u-kfnXw

Started before/during indev. I really liked the Beta stage.

Not alpha but I am doing a retro minecraft playthrough on beta 1.7.3.  I chose beta 1.7.3 because it was the most feature packed version of Minecraft without hunger and survival crap stuffed in it.

EDIT: My first video I can remember watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiupOAWthKg

Soo, is someone planning to host?

I got the game in beta 1.2_02 stage
when I first found redstone I didn't know what it was, so I used it for decoration
when I first made a jukebox, I kept rightclicking it (I had no records at the time) and eventually the game's normal music turned on, so I went a while thinking it did that instead
eventually though, my first minecraft map ended up getting corrupted, new chunks randomly appearing
one of the buildings in our world ended up being cut in half due to chunk errors
eventually the world just didn't start ever again, even when I tried to edit it using a world editing program it kept crashing, so I never got the world back again
my second world was fine though, yet that was lost when switching computers.

Soo, is someone planning to host?
I am if we decide on a version. I can get the hosting software for any of them.

when was the leaf decay glitched?
I seem to remember it being from a certain version up until beta, and leaf decay being off is painful

and was there ever a fairly stable multiplayer in alpha?
I only really started multiplayer in beta because it was so bad early on (back when clay was super rare)

ugh, this game was way better when it was in the alpha stages and close to no-one really knew about it outside of the internet.  now it's plagued with cancerous loving 8 year olds and stuff.

Note: If you want BlocklandMinecraft to stay as a "small community" you should kill yourself, thereby making the community smaller and better.
