They force you to go to school and pay for your own supplies and if you can't afford your stuff you have to get a job but you can't hold a job because they pound you with so much work that you can't fit in time for work
school supplies aren't even that expensive though, save for a calculator and laptop. the most i buy for school are some composition notebooks, some spiral bound notebooks, a 2-pack of mechanical pencils, a pack of paper, and maybe a binder. i rarely spend over $20-$25 on school supplies, except for this year when i bought a calculator that was on sale for $88 which will last me well through college and the year before when i bought a $50 laptop bag which is sturdy and will also last through college.
my state even does a tax-free weekend for school supplies.
