Steam allows that?

I believe how it is going to work is that you cannot beat the half-life campaign by yourself. You'll need co-op in order to do stuff like pressing two buttons at once and etc. in order to proceed.

have you tried joining through the server list and not friends? i had to do that to get it to work.
