Windows Laptops are quite worth the higher cost because they are more practical.

Could be almost ideal to play a lot of indie games!
I can imagine something like FTL: Faster Than Light, or Hotline Miami running just fine on it.

I got Tales of Maj'Eyal running on it.  It's like- a native linux game or something.   I'd never heard of it, but it's pretty fun.

I have a chromebook for watching youtube and browsing the web.
Windows computers are good for general use.  But since I had an awesome gaming PC when I bought this chromebook, there wasn't much point in shelling out extra money for a laptop with windows on it.

Also, I feel safer browsing the web w/ a cheapo non-windows laptop.  Less chance of viruses, malware, etc.

I wouldn't feel safe doing that on a OS made by our overlord Google.
Not because of the viruses, but because I like my privacy.
Then again, Windows is going that way too...

You can use other Linux distros on Chromebooks instead of ChromeOS if that's what you're concerned about.

Hey, I actually did all of this a few months back on my online schooling laptop that was sent to me

After I installed WINE and restarted, it promptly said I was remotely locked out of Developer Mode.

Do you know how pissed I was after sinking that much time into it..? Meh. Gg tho
