Author Topic: My university just banned hoverboards.  (Read 2361 times)

Stupidest name for a non-hovering item possible.
Like, it's not even a hovercraft. It has wheels.

It annoys me so damn much whenever I hear someone call that damn thing a hoverboard, Like it physically, mentally, and emotionally irks the hell outta me. IT. IS. NOT. A. HOVERBOARD. People must be stupid cuz you can clearly see it is rolling. not hovering.

It's like a segway but with no handles. Why is it called a hovercraft in the first place? It's like calling a bike an airplane.

aren't they called IO Hawk's?

edit: yep
No iohawk buys chinese boards and rebrands them

that's a really stupid ban because literally any electronic device can overheat and explode while charging, even a phone
might as well ban phones

I saw some black dude fall flat on his back on one while I was walking on my campus. The first thing he did of course was look to make sure his shoes were alright.

I think it goes a little beyond standard danger. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is investigating hoverboard fires and manufacturers. The fires are suspected to be the result of poor product design, not an inherent attribute of the electrical devices.
