Author Topic: how do i get over a fear of driving?  (Read 6850 times)

tell them to stop it's driving you nuts

do you drive well with other people in the car with you?

just be confident
if theres one thing i learned is to stop being such a pusillanimous individual and just do stuff

i wanted to drive so badly and got mine as soon as i could and drove the car home after getting it

If you have a panic attack just sitting in the driver's seat you should seek help

no i've only driven once and moved like 20 feet.

i think the panic attacks are caused by my realization of how in my hands i'm holding a deadly weapon and the fate of mine and other people's lives could be at stake, and i don't think i could live with myself if that ever happened.

Jesus christ

I kinda dealt with this a little when I was learning. I'd feel pressure in my chest and my adrenaline would be rushing. I was also driving a 3 ton 18 foot long van too. The first time I ever drove legally as a learner driver was in an empty parking lot at a factory near Six Flags of Midamerica. There were a few cars in the lot, but there were no people and only one vehicle ever moved while I was practicing. After that, I moved up to driving around a subdivision. From there, I moved onto a public street (I was scared out of my mind to go from 20mph up to 40) and quickly got to highway driving in no time.

Panic attacks while driving is not a good thing though. Even if you are able to conquer the fear of driving, I'm very certain that you will simply lock up in an emergency situation and have no idea what to do.

if you have a loving panic attack just by doing that you need to be put on anxiety medicine

i mean i couldn't really give less of a stuff about driving. my family, however, keeps provoking me to do it for some odd reason.
rly brother

i don't believe in psychological medicine (don't even get me started)

i also try to talk to my friends about this but they keep asking me rhetorical questions like if i want to ride public transit for the rest of my life or taxis.

i don't know if every state has these, but that's what we call them. it could be called something else.
FL calls them driving permits (requires parents or instructor to be in car)
