Might does not make right.  Just because we can't physically stop people from being jerks on their own computers doesn't make it ok.  We are attempting to stop them via social pressure, that is the point of this forum.

Yeah, no stuff.  No one is posting "help I'm trapped in this bad server and can't leave".  The point is to warn others and bring about social consequences for the offending party.

I don't really blame them, I'm surprised it's not more. If they have a policy of preemptively filtering out people they think are going to cause trouble it makes sense. From your name I would assume you're going to cause some sort of trouble. Do you expect people to take you seriously with a name like that?

the first example is not about this kind of situation. enforcing your rules is not abusing your power as the host. if they weren't following their own rules then it would be a different story, but that's not what we're talking about here
the second is also irrelevant because, again, people do not need to be warned about "bad rules"
when you join a server the rules will be immediately obvious. you do not have to worry about spending half an hour building a house or in a deathmatch just for it to be wasted because the host starts randomly banning people, or anything to that effect. you will see the rules as soon as you join, or as soon as you spawn (if you don't, then I guess that could be considered a problem of its own, if it's combined with unusual rules)
