What I want to know is why do TV shows or games allow obvious product placement? Does it even work? So say for example you're watching TV and the guy on TV says "I can't start my morning without a glass of pepsi!" What kind of audience sitting on the couch is going to get up and rush to go buy a pepsi? I've seen shows and games get dumbed down in quality and it looks incredibly cheesy.
Now I know the main reason,
money. However they are only making a 1 time payment or smaller multiple payments.
Not only that obvious product placement has been known to turn viewers away from the tv show, movie or game.Wouldn't it make more sense for these games or tv shows or movies to make their own fake brands? Not only does it improve their image because it shows they don't sell out but they can then resell replica products based on their fake brand and make a full profit. Worked for Nuka Cola, Brawndo energy drink, duff beer, alamo beer, Bonk! Atomic Punch, sprunk, clucken bell, burgershot, etc. All of these fictional products have proven that they can make fake brands and still make money off them from die hard fans without alienating their fan base with corporate selling out.
