Author Topic: [Other] Top-Down views of Saves  (Read 1708 times)

While bored and with nothing to do on a computer that can't even run blockland with a single brick, I decided to make a java program that renders a top-down view of bls files.
It's not nearly finished yet, but it'll spit out an image currently, when I finish (if I ever), I'll release the source of the code to the public.
But for now, here is some pictures of default builds.

Sirrus Military Compound

Golden Gate Bridge

C.T.F. Battle Grounds

ACM City

Considering on the build size, I may do other saves.
So suggest away.

Utopia City and Seattle by Cohort.

i am here to rob the thread

secretly i am jealous because the java program is already way better than mine

Seattle
Done.

I'll post the times it takes to render each picture in a bit.

Neat. Could see this being used to make a browser-based map or something.

utopia city pls ill have a use of the pic

I had just found it, but waiting for the page to load.
Doesn't help that I have download speed of 8kbp/s on my phone.

Edit: Working on the code some more, noticed some issues with the brick alignment.

Once I get a GUI for it made ( which I'm nearly done ), I'll release the source and put a link to the jar in my profile.
Unsure if just posting a jar link breaks the no executables rule, so I'd rather play it safe.

Ice Palace would be a barely visible clump of pixels from how long it is

Here you go.

Also just finished uploading the project folder, the link is in my profile.
Inside the MapGen/dist/ folder is the MapGen.jar, and you should be able to load the project folder in any IDE, though I was using NetBeans.
Just a heads up also, this was made with jdk 1.8, I'm unsure if it'll run on previous versions.

Another additional thing. There is currently an issue with bricks not lining up under certain conditions, I'll look into that sometime tomorrow when I get a chance.
Edit: Forgot to mention, an image "Output.png" should appear in the same directory as the .jar when you load a save file.
