Author Topic: Watch out for an iOS glitch that will "permanently" brick your device  (Read 4305 times)

This glitch may get scammed a lot throughout stuff, and I bring the info here.
If you're device is a 64-bit device (so iPhone 5S and up) and runs iOS 8 and up, then the glitch can be caused. (DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELF, YOU WILL REGRET IF YOU DO)

Now, this is not going to permanently brick your device, it will take some physical repair or you have to wait for the battery to die off (WARNING: Battery will get very hot and may be damaged in the process of dying)

How it's done:
You go into your settings app and go to General > Date and Time
Disable "Set Automatically" if enabled.
Go to the date and scroll back in time until you get to 1970, then go to January 1st
Restart your iDevice.
Boom it's bricked and you have to do physical repairs and regret what you done.

Here, is a troll picture already made:

In this video, made by EverythingApplePro, he describes how to cause the glitch, how it's glitched, and how to repair it after glitching.

Well they didnt have iphones in 1970.

Lol wow, what an oversight.

I assume this means all iPhones will be bricked in 2038 as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2038_problem

If they're using 32-bit unix time, then yes. If they're using 64-bit, then no. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were using 32-bit...

By 2038 we'll have the solution to that issue. We have over 20 years to fix it.

we already have a solution
it's a very simple problem

i'd be pretty impressed if you were still using the same iphone for 22 years

I've been using the same phone for almost 8 years. I changed it last year.

anyone who falls for the image in the OP shouldn't own a phone

Yeah, adding the fact right above the image I state that it is a troll image

anyone who falls for the image in the OP shouldn't own a phone
its not like "put your phone in a fire" or some bullstuff, this is actually believable, i don't see how you think people that try this are dumb

anyone who falls for the image in the OP shouldn't own a phone
So it isn't really a problem.
Those without a phone aren't affected, those with a phone but smart enough aren't affected, only those with a phone that are dumb are affected and left without a phone, leading back to situation 1.

really? it's not like it's telling you to microwave your phone or drop it in water. most people probably wouldn't see anything suspicious about it at all. that date has little meaning to the general population
