Author Topic: OMG A BOAT!  (Read 8301 times)

i have the raft, suppose to float on water, cant even get it to spawn, script looks like rtb or eailer.
You can't port scripts directly from RTB. The script would be set out for retail, just not done well.

yes i know that,i also know what to edit out as i have done it,i got kind of lost on this one,i didnt want to edit out the floating on water effect.

I've been on a server that had those boats once. Their models made them look to be very promising, but I was dissapointed with the borked controls. You control the boat just like you control a minifigure or horse. There is no real turning, as the boat litterally turns with which ever way you look. You can actually turn on the spot for that matter! You can also strafe with either boat when you really shouldn't beable to.

WHEN WILL IT BE REALEACED?!

It won't be if your going to spam giant text and spell released wrong you tard.

As long as people type in big font and type crappy then i doubt it will ever be released.

Not only that but it would please Furdle if it gets released, so he can make a half arsed broken modification and ruin the mod for everyone else.

Furdle, please learn to spell...

And I was talking to Nit and he said over the course of the weekend. As in tomorrow for me  :cookieMonster:

Sorry once again, I should be able to work on the boats this weekend, strafing is already on my list to remove. If you want, I could try completely removing the player's control of the boat and just force them to use to use the sideway brick movement keys to make the boat turn... or I could allow you to face any direction but make the impulse direction slowly change. Tell me what method you prefer.

Edit: Of course if you like the current method, say so too, I'll be glad to do whichever of these possibilities. If we used the brick keys for turning, you could look around your boat while driving :o

I like the current version of movement D:

If we used the brick keys for turning, you could look around your boat while driving :o
That would be pretty awesomes.
More awesomes would be being able to walk around it while moving, But that will never happen :(

I'ld prefer the controls to work in the same manner as stock vehicles such as the jeep have in order to keep it in uniform, where moving the mouse just controls the rudder/steering. Is that possible in a 'boat' vehicle or not though?

To my knowledge, there isn't a way unless I switch to a vehicle datablock. Trader had suggested a flying vehicle but I have doubts that will work, I'll try it though. I could have the  play control itself and have the boat go the way the player faces O.o Also, I know it's either already in the game or will come with v9, an aiplayer function that restricts turning movement, might be possible to use that?

this is going to be one of the best things out... for me anyway besides some other stuff but still... these are GREAT!

So does anyone else want to comment on what method I should use for controlling the boat?
