Do you promote permanent banning?

anything less than permanent is kinda useless. the kind of person who breaks rules, knowing that it's against the rules, is unlikely to come back in a day completely willing to follow the rules
I guess, when it comes to rules that are a little more "open to interpretation," it might be reasonable to use shorter sentences. but in that case, breaking the rule is mostly a mistake, and I don't really see any reason to punish them for that at all, if they're willing to behave from that point on

Yeah, he was going on about how Shazoo should change server name and i said shut up as a joke. He took it seriously and called me a jackass and i told shazoo he was bullying me. Shazoo isn't an idiot and knew it was a joke so joke banned him. You should've realized it was a joke when everyone else in the server was joking the entire time.

There's a difference between trolling and joking. A lot of people need to learn this. The point of any of the people joking on the server was not to upset others, it was to JOKE and have fun.

Also you getting "called out" was me saying "shazoo he's bullying me". how in the world do you think that's being called out

This. Although I prefer week bans to permabans because sometimes it's bad, but not really that bad, and you might forget to unban them eventually when you feel like they've calmed down/grown up.

To be more on topic: I was on the server when the ban in question was dealt. It was just a jokeban, and the whole thing seemed to be pretty joke-y and chill to me, not really as serious as he's making it out to be.. I think Luigi is overreacting.

buuut like, RDM, let's say that's against the rules. it's obvious that it's against the rules, and it is pretty easy to determine whether or not you have killed someone for a valid reason. so if someone does it anyway, you can reasonably assume that they broke the rule intentionally. "warnings" are the very reason that people break rules intentionally. if they knew they'd get permanently banned for it, they probably wouldn't break the rule to begin with

I feel like Luigi is over-reacting and he didn't actually want to get other peoples opinion on the subject he wanted to rant so this belongs in drama, also it does seem like a joke "No Bullying Please" because that is a reason only a 9 year old would give, and although the forums does seem like a bunch of 9 year olds' sadly most of us here are over 12 :/

for something like rdm i make sure that it wasn't an accident or something before opening fire
if they're a troll it usually is pretty obvious and if they're incompetent then they get the ban too because they are too stupid to know about their actions/warnings and im not going to waste time on people who are completely blind of chat messages
