I unfortunately missed the first portion, so I'm just watching the first half hour now. The interruptions from both sides are ridiculous.

pence is staying suprisingly composed but kaine is really pushing him on stuff that he isnt too great at answering

this

then again he doesn't really give him an opportunity to respond well, but the few times he gets an opportunity to speak he doesn't answer adequately.

this is what i was thinking

pence seems like he slowly starts to go on a good run when speaking and makes some alright points but strays away a little bit before stopping himself (or being stopped) and restarting the cycle

ngl kaine is droppin the ball pretty hard

that mount rushmore line was painful

A debate where people aren't yelling at each other?

Am I high or something this is fantastic

tone wise kaine sounds more outrageous while pence sounds more reasonable

however word wise they are about equivalent, and pence has notably more trouble directly answering questions.

compared to the 2012 debates, this is far less organized and reasonable. i recall liking the vp debate more than the pres debate for the clarity of conversation and lack of interruptions, even though obama and romney were both great speakers, and also didn't interrupt at all pretty much.

moderator: "how do you plan to combat homegrown terrorism?"
pence: "keep immigrants out"

classic

seeing as how relatively equal this has been, and the fact that this is only a vp debate, id say its not gonna have much of an impact unless one of them pulls out some big guns

moderator: "how do you plan to combat homegrown terrorism?"
pence: "keep immigrants out"

classic
pence: 'well how are we going to know whether it's safe to let them come in or not'
kaine: "you wont know unless you bring them in"

am i the only one who caught this or did i mishear it

overall i think kaine made enough mistakes that ruins his ability to come off as more prepared and correct compared to pence, despite pence's shortcomings in answering the questions presented to him. pence overall has had a great tone which sounds mature and prepared, but his answers are subpar as been mentioned multiple times.

i don't think you misheard. its a pretty bad slipup yeah.

he corrected himself and said something like "if we dont know them we wont bring them in"

although pence's answers leave me wanting, his composure is miles ahead of kaine

kaine is such a jumpy wreck this debate, christ

pretty much. I'm amazed at how composed Pence has been, to be honest. Kaine has definitely been slightly on the offensive, but he's not done nearly all that he could.

Kaine seems like a total yes-man ugh

I guess Pence is kinda one too, but it seems like he knows his stuff more than Kaine does.
