the law's purpose was fulfilled with the birth of Christ, and so was replaced with the higher law of the Gospel. if what the ot says worries you then watch out for the Jews not the Christians
i may just be confused, but to me that seems to be saying the opposite. i know that old testament law is often said to not apply any more, but this verse seems to explicitly state that the laws will literally stay forever

What a cogent explanation. Obviously no Christians follow the teachings of the Old Testament, which is why absolutely no Christians are against gay-marriage, since the whole "homoloveuality is an abomination" thing comes from Leviticus.

Neither are they against abortion either, since all the 'life begins at conception' stuff is interpreted from verses in Genesis, Deuteronomy, and Psalms.

Hell, you'll never see the Ten Commandments hanging up in a Christian church, since that's 100% Old Testament jew-lore.

every single one of sevenths post are teeth-grit emoji

Christians aren't under the Mosaic or Levitical law covenants, but note 2 Tim. 3:16,17.  All scripture, including the Hebrew Scriptures, still has value for Christians, and at the very least reveals insights into God's thoughts and views, including on homoloveuality, when life begins, &c.

Regarding homoloveuality in the Greek Scriptures, see 1 Cor. 6:9-11.  It certainly doesn't paint homoloveuality in a positive or even neutral light.

Granted, that isn't necessarily a call to political action or to treat homoloveuals badly.  There can exist a strong separation of church and state not just within political institutions, but within minds as well.  I'm just pointing out that there are other valid viewpoints.

all christians love to tell themselves the old testament is irrelevant. after quoting the 10 commandments around town.

Especially places up north that had Blue Laws until recently.

wh- uh... i hope you don't expect me to try and defend the close-minded views that your common conservative christian may have, because i won't. i fully acknowledge that many of them nitpick stuff from the ot that applies to their own opinions and i've always hated conversing with those types on religious or political topics

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" (Matt.5:17 NIV)

"I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smaller letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished" (v18)

"Anyone who breaks one of  the  least of these commandments and  teaches others to do the same will be called least [Greek: 'less than nothing'] in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (v19).

"The Lord [Jesus Christ] is well pleased for his righteousness sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable" (Isa.42:21).

"Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their  children  forever!" (Deut.5:29 NIV).

"Oh man, Christians are so bad!"
