picking up something dropped some pages ago, i'm curious
why is it that you guys support cutting international trade, because i see literally no other rational reason than nationalism
pretty sure the main point is to try and encourage economic growth within the nation. in the long term, maybe it'd work out, tho there would obvs be negative short-term (relatively speaking) effects. but then again, in the long term a global economy is pretty inevitable, and having strong foreign trade helps us in foreign policy (both positively when both us and our trade partners are profiting, and to put economic pressure on nations we want to push or leverage), and it also helps make goods cheaper for consumers and allows for specialization across nations, which makes the global economy stronger, which makes us stronger. but obvs this means some industries just aren't going to stay in our nation, but in the grand scheme of things, that may not necessarily be a bad thing
