Funny how the more you read up on it the more you realize that Dr Sues was a war mongering lunatic.
"This is the actual cartoon Dr Seuss drew. The America first refers to the America first comittee.. The largest anti war organization around WWII. It had over 800,000 members including Walt Disney. The spokesperson for the comittee was Charles Lindbergh, best known for the first transatlantic flight he also harbored racial purity ideologies. He was accused constantly of being a fascist and although he said Germany had a troubling Jew problem, he found himself disgusted after the war when touring national socialist concentration camps.
America first, merged early on with more left leaning groups so their primary focus was on the avoidance of war, despite Lindbergh's reported fascism. Dr Seuss on the other hand was quite in favor of the war. He published dozens of these cartoons advocating for the war effort, disparaging national socialists, and encouraging individual participation in the war. America First was dissolved 3 days after the Pearl Harbor attacks and Lindbergh would eventually go on to run a few air raids in the pacific."
