Technically they could be trained to some similar level but that level is definitely less than optimal. The anatomical and physiological differences between men and women make the same level very difficult to achieve. For example, on average, your everyday active male will have a similar VO2 max to Olympic level women athletes

also, I do not think that women and men should compete against each other again for the anatomical and physiological differences

and on top of that, I also believe that and trans, especially mtf or vice versa should not be allowed to compete in any sport until after their hormone treatment is complete

i guess i don't feel so strongly about the sports issue because i don't give much of a stuff about the sanctity and purity of sports team compositions, but i understand the concerns. i don't think that it's really an important issue to split hairs about in the long run

But the one about scholarships/incentives/etc intended specifically for women should resonate, no?

Maybe this example will, despite being an anecdote. My Uni has a great college of sciences, but the representation of women in a lot of the STEM programs is not particularly "even" as it's probably a 3:1 ratio of men to women in the program. Because of this, the college is actively encouraging women to apply to the science programs, and even offering incentives for women to apply/the school to accept them. In the case of giving women an incentive to apply, they will give an immediate merit-based (but minimum of 5k) scholarship to any woman that applies and declares a STEM major on their application. The school is also imposing quotas on the applications to try to ensure a 50-50 balance across all STEM majors in the college of males to females.

College is obviously expensive. But why is it fair that women get this scholarship? What if I declared myself a woman to get the scholarship? Should I be eligible for it? I would likely have an easier time getting in to the program in the first place, and 5k off the bat for books and housing to boot. Should trans women be eligible for this? Or should this be restricted for the intended group of biological women?

Sports shouldn't be separated by love at all. There is literally no reason.
women are at a disadvantage against men because human males are biologically stronger than human females in every physical aspect. in sports, you aren't supposed to have advantage over anyone, so that's why they are separated by love

loveual dimorphism, my dude

Naturally, men are stronger than women. With training, women can be just as strong/stronger than men.

As long as they're tested with the same requirements as men, there is no problem.

Considering how often a professional sports player trains to remain in peak condition for their sport a female would have to give up all free time to come anywhere close to the physical capabilities of men and even then they'll still be pretty overwhelmed

like you said, they're offering the scholarships to encourage women to get into STEM, so if they want to include trans women in that as well, then that's fine. as for whether or not the scholarships should exist at all, it's not something i have a very strong opinion about either

Yeah, with a significantly larger amount of time and effort women can meet the "same" physical requirements, making it way harder for women to compete in sports, resulting in less women playing sports.

Allow women to play in male leagues, but not vice versa? Sure, why not (besides the glaring double standard), but why the hell would a sportswoman want to play with a ton of athletes that have a massive natural advantage over her, rather than just dominating in her own field? To prove a political point lol?

should let it play out that way just for the absolutely hilarious results lmao

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2012/08/the-golden-ratio-the-one-number-that-describes-how-mens-world-records-compare-with-womens/260758/

here's an article about men vs women's olympic scores in equal competitions. women's records are generally about 90% of the men's records. assuming that your average, say, MLB player is not an anomalous world record holder, and the woman playing is in peak physical conditioning, they will have an equal playing field. i'm sure women wouldn't be breaking tons of records in coed sports, but they would definitely be able to hold their own against the average player.

i literally didn't say that

i literally didn't say that

I literally didn't say you did? It's a compromise because functional reality and what you're suggesting

No offense but theres no good argument for trying to bunch together elite level athletes

Rio 2016 Track and Field

400M
Woman's 1st place: 49.44
Men's 8th place: 44.61

800M
Women's 1st place: 1.55.28
Men's 8th place: 1:46.15

100M
Women's 1st place: 10.71
Men's 8th place: 10.06

1500M
Women's 1st place: 4:08.92
Men's 8th place: 3:51.39

5000M
Women's 2nd place: 14:29.77
Men's 8th place: 13:09.17

400M Hurdles
Women's 1st place: 53.13
Men's 8th place: 49.09

As you can tell, just by a few of the races, women don't stand a chance against the men. In fact, none of the 1st place women in any of these races comes even close to the men's 8th place. So unless you never want to see a women place top 3 (hell even top 8) you wouldnt want to put women and men together. It doesnt make any sense.

Also, the 10% difference linked in those articles are huge. A 43.18s 400m is way faster than a 47.6s 400m. Same thing for all the races. Just look at the 1500m difference. 206 vs 230.46....
