also a representative democracy is kind of logistically necessary since having every citizen make an informed vote on every bill is effectively impossible

yeah i know that but the point would be to ensure that these representatives aren't entirely comprised of elites, and involve more average people i guess. informed votes would be easier with guaranteed, adequately funded education, though.

For the most part, that's actually true. The laws that make the biggest difference in your day-to-day life are local ones. Granted the mayor is probably not gonna be an 'average guy' but lots of other members of municipal governments are just average joes who ran for a seat on city council.

It would be neat to not have rich elites in Congress, but the way things work that's probably impossible. Running for congress is really expensive and requires years of political experience. Anyone who is even thinking of running for Congress is already rich.
