so uh, whats your guys opinion on the paris climate agreement?
I think it's pretty good and I'm glad that, as a massive global power, we committed to an international agreement that's trying to really tackle the imminent problems of climate c

all your problems dont exist anymore when you turn your back to them and cover your ears

getting buttblasted over a damn obvious joke

Stop trying to derail!

mitigation is far more important at this point than further damage control considering the current guesstimate models project that we're already screwed unless we turn the entire global economy off like yesterday

the accuracy of the models doesn't even really matter, worst case scenario is the mitigation technologies developed are still usable in specific unique areas of the world and best case scenario is they prevent a death spiral

i have no idea why people are so hellbent on economic restrictions when a combination of existing basic controls and mitigation technologies would be far more productive and efficient

getting buttblasted over a damn obvious joke

Stop derailing the conversation

this is such a stuffty graph.

how the hell is dune right-wing libertarian? it's literally about how a group of natives are exploited for not-oil by greedy governments... that's a left wing anti-corp message.

meanwhile how the hell is lotr right wing? it's literally got no modern political messages in it. you could argue ANY sort of fantasy in which kings rule is faschist which could put it at authoritarian but the reality is that it shouldn't be on here to begin with.

hunger games is libertarian left--the whole point is that the fascist government is letting everyone starve. it's got a socialist anti-authoritarian message.

harry potter literally has magic in it, which is viewed as evil by the right. also, the students constantly defy authority. it should be put slightly further down and/or left. but really it has little modern political messages and shouldn't even be on there.

ANIMAL FARM IS LITERALLY THE OPPOSITE OF AUTHORITARIAN LEFT?! the whole point is that the communist farm is a PIECE OF stuff and napoleon literally turns into stalin at the end. if anything, animal farm is libertarian right.

it's the same with 1984. the message is obviously anti-authority. it should be right-bottom you can't even argue that this is based off the 'world of the book, not the message' because if it was Hunger Games would be far up-right.

Dude that graph clearly isn't about the messages within the books but the government's represented within them.

I think INH is right when he said that the graph is very obviously a joke about the governments within the books. Zealot is just living up to his name here.

Explain how curtailing an international climate plan and pledging to return coal energy counts as 'mitigation'.

Also, there is literally no solution for climate change that does not involve economic restrictions. The current situation we see with the environment is because of a known market failure. The most efficient (and thus profitable) economies do not protect the environment.

in the long run, it still makes economic, scientific, and environmental sense to invest in renewable energies and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. reducing the global economy's massive dependence on finite energy resources is a pretty tantalizing option, and continuing to develop these technologies will only make us better at constructing, designing, and deploying them. reducing air pollution and carbon emissions is nice for reasons other than slowing climate change too.

so uh, whats your guys opinion on the paris climate agreement?

Hasnt the info the agreement is based upon being secured as falsified by people from the same organization that presented it? Glad it's gone either way. Waste of money.

developing new technologies and processes to reverse or prevent further changes is economically beneficial and productive. it seems like a win-win situation. producing things like co2 sinks, solar mirrors, and new seawalls creates economic opportunities from competing firms and also helps with mitigation

obviously beyond a certain point some kind of authoritative mandate needs to be made, but it seems more beneficial to reach the same goal in an economically positive way whenever possible. focusing on reducing emissions isn't really going to work as well when billions of people in the rest of the world are burning tires and garbage for heat and power

in the long run, it still makes economic, scientific, and environmental sense to invest in renewable energies and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

i think we need to ignore the people wetting their pants over nuclear energy and make the step to upgrade the old infrastructure to nuclear first. it's kind of a shame that we have so much potential energy in coal that we'd be wasting, but i think there's likely to be an undiscovered way to extract the energy while containing the emissions

donald Annoying Orange is just showing how much a fool he is (again) by going forward with his stuffty "forget the planet, we gotta keep the shareholders happy in the short run!!!1!" idea and pulling out of the paris agreement. we're going to lose out as china and whatever advances with their renewable energy stuff.

Hasnt the info the agreement is based upon being secured as falsified by people from the same organization that presented it?
sounds like bullstuff but make your case

developing new technologies and processes to reverse or prevent further changes is economically beneficial and productive.
The technology already exists to mitigate climate change: solar power, wind, nuclear, hydrothermal, and other energy sources that don't release CO2. Carbon sinks and solar power are great too, but Annoying Orange shows no signs of supporting that technology.

so uh, whats your guys opinion on the paris climate agreement?
I'm glad that Annoying Orange decided not to agree with it. Climate change isn't even real.
