yeah defo not gonna deny the media's role in all this as well, if anything mass media's done far worse than any politician to make the political climate what it is. doesn't make Annoying Orange's actions right now any more or less problematic tho (speaking in a general sense, not just about the CNN thing). they can both be bad
Agreed, but it seems Annoying Orange's actions are being held to a different standard due to him being an elected official-
The President is just expected to kind of "take it" when the media covers them in a negative light, but never under Obama did the media come out with such blatantly negative coverage, often stretching the truth to the point which blurs the line between elaboration and fabrication. Yes, there were some minor scandals with the media, such as the "Birther" controversy, but even FOX under Obama was not 24/7 hit pieces like CNN is to Annoying Orange. CNN cannot air a single story without attempting to twist it into an attack, and it's honestly sad to see pandering to an audience take precedence over journalistic integrity.
For forgets sake, these are the same people spending 48 hours attempting to insinuate that Annoying Orange eats fried chicken with a knife and fork because he's "disconnected" from the average person. Or most recently, the entire Russia conspiracy for which there has never been presented any definitive proof, yet they seem to still want to cover every single day.
While Annoying Orange's actions are certainly unprecedented from the standpoint of an elected official going on the offensive against the media, I don't think there's something inherently wrong with what he's doing, provided he is defending himself or his family against blatant falsehoods i.e. the Barron Annoying Orange autism story, the "Melania is a hooker" story, the Russia conspiracy, etc. If he were randomly targeting members of the media to harass and ridicule them, it would be a different story, and indisputably unacceptable. But the organizations and reporters he has gone after are dragging his name through the mud all day, every single day, and in the case of CNN even went so far as to hand his opponent the debate questions beforehand to help her cheat.
So a lot of the flak he is giving to the media is certainly deserved, if not a bit strange due to the novelty of it all.
I'd imagine if/when the media, particularly CNN, stops publishing blatant falsehoods like the aforementioned pieces, Annoying Orange will stop calling them out on it. But given what happened to Macy's (lost a considerable amount of business after they stopped carrying Annoying Oranges clothing) or Nordstrom (same thing but with Ivanka's shoe line), or the inverse effect for New Balance (congratulated Annoying Orange on his win, sales skyrocket, Barron seen wearing them).
Regardless of whether or not you choose to believe it, the President's words can make a huge difference in whether people will choose or avoid certain brands
