can someone please tell me what the forget the point of the movie was, i honestly dont get it, it was like a realistic vietnam movie for like half of it but the other half was just like, some fat guy doing his thing? i didnt get the point because it led up to nothing and there wasnt a real climax in the movie, i honestly dont think it was that well written unless i didnt catch something

You didn't catch the point of the movie, because you were looking at it  as if it was a war/combat movie. It was a movie outlining the horrors of the Vietnam war and for it to really strike home, you need to actually have some historical baggage to understand what is going on.
