It's a waste of time in my opinion, I find the world cup, the super bowl, champions league and the NBA more intense and motivational than the Olympics
I don't get how that can be true. The major league/cup games of most single-sports associations feature highly-rich, groomed-since-childhood sportspeople, who all come from the richest clubs in the world, and have been paid to train for years.
How can you be motivated or relate to that? They may be fine sportspeople, but they were handed almost everything on a plate.
Whereas your Olympians from most countries, they've been underdogs, or even are underdogs as they compete. They may have been training since childhood, but often in their own time, or with small clubs and things, rather than by multi-millionaire international corporations.
Or, you get the Olympians who haven't been competing for long, but they pull through.
And you get Olympians from countries who don't have the means to train to compete with those from the bigger countries, but they just get on and try.
So much of it is more inspiring and motivating than watching some millionaire who spends more money on his hair than I see in a year, run up and down a field.
I enjoy the Olympics quite a lot.
I don't follow most of the sports, or the sportspeople outside of the Olympics, but I'll watch near on anything during it.
And there's always a great pride you feel when one of your countrymen succeeds.
