peazip all the way
peazip looks cool, but I'm pretty partial to 7zip
I can't really justify it, but 7zip's binaries are smaller? lol
I guess I could also say that I like 7zip's command-line interface more
how is doing something the program allows you to do out of the box illegal
out of the box, you can shoot somebody in the face with a gun. I'm pretty sure that's still illegal, though

that's a not an accurate brown townogy

i really doubt winrar cares that much about it since they've disabled the pop-up on new downloads

how isn't it?
I'd say it's closer to doing 5mph over the speed limit. It's still illegal but so many people do it and no one is going to bother getting on you for it.

Because it's not illegal. It's also just plain dumb.

what isn't illegal? cus shooting someone in the face is illegal, and so is using winrar beyond the trial period without buying it

Try to prove that it is illegal I guess.
Any case would get thrown out due to the developer actively refusing to enforce their trial policy.

Winrar... until they get a modern app.

I have been using 8-zip and it does just as good, though I only like it because its minus one more ancient win32 app in my desktop.

Also you guys realize there is always people who get a company liscense thats unlimited use and they just throw it out there right? Its comepletely legal too since the key is paid.

unlikely, considering the fact that suing you would be them enforcing it, lol

I can't tell if you're just really dumb or what.
Them actively giving you the explicit option to not buy it and to continue using said product is the definition of "not enforcing it."

if someone doesn't have a fence around their yard is it legal to trespass?
the fact that they don't stop you doesn't mean that it's legal, nor does it necessarily mean that a judge or a jury will be on your side
I promise you their lawyers will be better than yours

It's more like having a sign that says "Come on into my house" with the door unlocked, then having the police arrest them for trespassing.
You're really bad at the brown townogy game.

the software tells you plenty of times that the trial is limited. that is literally the opposite of "come on into my house"
leaving the door unlocked also doesn't make it legal for someone to come into your house (although your insurance won't be happy about it)

The "trial is limited" is equivalent to knowing you shouldn't go onto someone's property unless told directly by the owner
The sign of "come into my house" is the explicit close popup and continue button
The unlocked door is being able to still use the software
The trespassing is the using WinRar after the trial.
Not sure what you're not getting. It'd be really hard to convict someone of anything when all the signs are there to say it's fine with the owner.

Also the license on the website has no mention of an obligation to purchase the software after the trial: http://www.win-rar.com/gtb_priv.html?&L=0
