Author Topic: does space go on forever  (Read 6050 times)

It's not insane at all, assuming the universe is infinite. There's nothing about it that doesn't work.
If there was infinite space and finite matter evenly distributed (Because why wouldn't it be, at least at first?) then the density of matter in the universe would be 0.
how did you get that it's distributed evenly across infinity
that makes zero sense

instead of saying "it would take 1000 light years" you should say "it would take light 1000 years to travel"

Because it sounds cooler when you say light years
also it would take longer than 1000 years because there is no current way to travel the speed of light without dying.

Just because it sounds cooler doesn't make it correct. :cookieMonster:

Also, there is currently just no way to travel the speed of light, period, dying or not. Theoretically, as long as the acceleration is kept within a reasonable range, we could travel at the speed of light unaffected in a vacuum.

okay so one thing we know for sure about the universe is that it started off with all matter and energy completely evenly distributed. we know that for sure.
so if space was infinite, and matter was finite, we can use that property I used earlier (any finite number divided by infinity = 0) to calculate that the density would have to be 0. That is, density = mass / volume, mass is finite and volume is infinite.

yeah screw trying to understand the universe, it totally doesn't matter at all

yeah screw trying to understand the universe, it totally doesn't matter at all

yeah it's not like astronomy is one of the first fields of science ever created

kahnuu, if you don't care, don't post

I feel bad for laughing at this but lol.

Theoretically, the big bang continues and creates matter and energy infinitly until it stops, in which it creates another universe.
does this mean that space loops like maps did

do you ever actually think about what you're posting? So, you're not interested, so what, don't post in the topic
obviously people care u handicap
