Author Topic: did steam change their download speed measurement or did my internet get faster  (Read 1524 times)

lol im not using a skin plus a skin can't change the download measurement
Idk
Change stuff in the code? I think its possible tbh.
Im using Metro fyi and it shows in MB/s

Mine shows up in MB/s as well. Not sure why there is so much inconsistency.

I hate megabits
it's just what internet companies use to trick you into thinking they have good speeds

Woah and I thought my 1.5mb/s was slow :(

r u opted in on the steam beta
yeah i am which means that either way standalone steam is going to have this

and and suppose i should just change stuff in blocklands code to make it a better game. lol

It's probably in Mbps under certain threshold. I also have MB/s, but I get at least 11-14 MB/s, so it would likely be above that threshold.

Yeah, but I don't get why they can't just stick between bits or bytes. Jumping between them just serves to confuse people like OP, and seems like terrible practice since it's like switching between imperial and metric units on the highway depending on speed.

I understand that sentiment, but their reason is to probably avoid numbers with many digits (or numbers many times smaller than 1). However, for smaller values it probably would have been better just to go the kb/s route.
