Ive never seen a tarantulas in the wild and ive lived here for 20 years. Scorpions are scary ya but not a big deal. What you can do as a kid is grab a scorpion and make a ring of fire using gas and put the scorpion in the middle. It will stab itself a few times and tbh its just morbid and entertaining
